Hush Hush Snap Snap Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 25, 2026 · Last Updated: May 17, 2026 · Publisher: Thomas Ray Publishing LLC
1. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not operate our own backend servers for data collection. Specifically:
- We do not automatically collect names, email addresses, or contact information
- We do not use device identifiers for tracking purposes
- We do not use any third-party advertising or analytics services
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties
- We do not engage in cross-app tracking
If you choose to send feedback through the App's Feedback form, you may optionally provide your name and email address so we can follow up. This information is used solely to respond to your feedback and is not shared with third parties.
2. Data Stored on Your Device
All app data is stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage. This includes:
- Cue toggle states (audio / visual / haptic on or off)
- Last-used timer preset and lens
- Per-lens default durations (Pro feature)
- Capture history log (Pro feature, opt-in)
- Pro entitlement status from the App Store
This data is stored only on your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.
3. iCloud Sync
If iCloud Sync is enabled, your timer presets, per-lens default durations, and cue toggle settings may sync to your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit service. This data is:
- Encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
- Stored in your personal iCloud account, not on our servers
- Not accessible to Thomas Ray Publishing LLC
You can disable iCloud sync in your device's Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Apps Using iCloud > Hush Hush Snap Snap. For details on Apple's iCloud data handling, see Apple's Privacy Policy.
4. Camera and Photo Library
Hush Hush Snap Snap accesses your camera to capture photos and video on the timer you set. Captures are saved directly to your iOS Photo Library via Apple's PHAssetCreationRequest API. The App never stores photos or videos in its own sandbox or on any server.
4a. Motion Sensors
While the camera is open, Hush Hush Snap Snap reads your iPhone's motion sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope) via Apple's CoreMotion framework. The data is used only to display the on-screen horizon level and to detect when your hand is steady or your iPhone is sitting on a surface — both improve photo sharpness by letting capture features wait for the right moment. Motion data is processed entirely on-device, is never persisted, never transmitted, and never associated with you. Sensor reading stops the moment the camera screen is dismissed or the App moves to the background.
5. Siri and App Intents
Hush Hush Snap Snap provides Siri Shortcuts for arming and cancelling the camera timer and switching the camera lens. Shortcuts are processed on-device and subject to Apple's Siri terms of service. No voice data or intent data is transmitted to Thomas Ray Publishing or any third party.
6. Apple Watch Companion App
The Hush Hush Snap Snap Apple Watch app acts as a remote shutter for the iPhone camera, lets you select a timer preset, and mirrors the haptic countdown on your wrist. Data syncs between your iPhone and Apple Watch locally via Apple's Watch Connectivity framework. The Watch app does not access HealthKit, motion, or biometric data.
7. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
Hush Hush Snap Snap offers an optional one-time Pro upgrade with a 7-day free trial. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your credit card or payment information. Apple provides us with transaction receipts to verify purchases and unlock features.
For information about how Apple processes payment data, see Apple's Privacy Policy.
8. Anonymous Analytics
Hush Hush Snap Snap collects anonymous usage analytics to help us improve the App. The App periodically sends an anonymous usage report to our secure cloud database (Apple CloudKit). These reports are sent at most once every 24 hours.
Reports include: app version, iOS version, device model, anonymous session count, feature usage counts (cue toggle states, captures per mode, lens distribution), error and interruption counts, accessibility setting states (VoiceOver active, Dynamic Type size, Reduce Motion / Reduce Transparency states), and Pro entitlement state.
For the optional hands-free smile trigger specifically, these usage records may include anonymous values derived from on-device face detection — that the trigger fired, the number of faces in the frame, and a coarse smile-intensity bucket — but never any face image, facial geometry or landmark data, feature print, or biometric identifier, and nothing that identifies a person.
Reports do NOT include: your name, Apple ID, email, location, IP address, or any other personally identifiable information. Each install is assigned a random identifier for deduplication only — it cannot be used to identify you.
This feature is ON by default. You can disable it at any time via the Analytics toggle in Settings. Disabling it immediately stops all future report submissions.
8a. On-Device Artificial Intelligence
Hush Hush Snap Snap uses several on-device machine-learning features to improve the camera experience. All inference and training run locally on your iPhone or Apple Watch. None of the inputs, models, or learned parameters are transmitted to Thomas Ray Publishing or to any third party.
The following on-device features are included:
- Apple Vision — face, smile, palm, and hand-pose detection used for the silent-trigger features (smile, palm, voice). Runs only while the camera is open. No frames are persisted.
- Apple Foundation Models — used for the optional Smart Scene captioning and quality scoring features. Runs entirely on-device via Apple's local models.
- Apple Speech Recognition — used only when the voice trigger is armed, to detect a single configurable trigger word. The recognizer runs on-device. No audio recordings are stored or transmitted.
- User-trained smile classifier (Pro, opt-in) — when you enable "Train Smile" in Settings, a k-nearest-neighbor classifier is trained from your labeled examples using Apple's
VNGenerateImageFeaturePrintRequest. The classifier file (~180 KB for 60 examples) is stored in the App's local Application Support directory. You can reset training at any time from Settings. - Adaptive Defaults (Pro, opt-in) — when enabled in Settings → Adaptive Defaults, the App records anonymized capture metadata (lens, ISO, exposure, scene category, cue settings, whether you reshot the photo) to learn your preferred defaults over time. The stored data is bounded in size, automatically pruned, and never includes the photo itself or any personal identifiers. You can reset all learned data and disable the feature at any time from Settings.
- Burst Ranker (Pro) — a Core ML boosted-tree regressor trained entirely on-device from your own capture data, used to pick the best frame from a burst. The trained model file is stored in the App's local sandbox.
- Enhanced Noise Reduction — when enabled in Settings → Image Quality, an on-device noise-reduction stage runs on each captured photo. The stage uses Apple's CoreImage noise reduction today and is designed to support a bundled neural denoiser model in a future update. Processing happens entirely on the device; no frames, intermediate images, or model parameters are transmitted off the device.
Where adaptive defaults data is stored
Adaptive Defaults data is stored in the App's local SwiftData store. If you have iCloud enabled and iCloud Drive turned on for Hush Hush Snap Snap, this data may sync to your personal iCloud private database (encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple). Thomas Ray Publishing has no access to your iCloud private database. To disable iCloud sync for this data, turn off Hush Hush Snap Snap under Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Apps Using iCloud, or disable Adaptive Defaults inside the App.
What is never used for training
Photos in your Photo Library are never read by Hush Hush Snap Snap for any AI, training, or analytics purpose. Frames captured by the camera are processed momentarily for the active trigger or capture and are not persisted unless you save them.
9. Feedback and Support
When you submit feedback through the App's Feedback form, you may optionally provide your name and email address. This information is submitted to Apple's CloudKit and is used solely to respond to your feedback. We do not use any third-party feedback or support services.
The feedback form may optionally include device diagnostics (app version, iOS version, device model, and event logs). Diagnostics do not include any personal information.
Screenshot Attachments (Feedback)
When you submit feedback, you may optionally attach up to three screenshots from your photo library. Screenshot attachment is entirely user-initiated. We do not capture your screen automatically, in the background, or at any other time.
Attached screenshots are uploaded to our private CloudKit container, associated with your feedback submission, and are used solely to help us understand the issue you are reporting. They are not used for analytics, advertising, profiling, model training, or any other purpose.
Screenshots are retained alongside your feedback record. To request deletion of a feedback submission and its attached screenshots, contact us at the support email listed below.
10. Children's Privacy
Hush Hush Snap Snap does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. No personal data is transmitted to us or to third parties unless you explicitly opt in to anonymous analytics or submit feedback. The App is suitable for all ages as an entertainment product.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at thomasraypublishing@gmail.com.
